Long before home computers were a reality, I started a little home-based business called Lamb Art & Design. I had left the rat-race of working as an advertising artist for a big-city newspaper. I wanted to work for myself with no bosses to boss me or employees to fret about. At the time, I really had no money to start with. Borrowing just seemed like I'd be starting in the hole and I'd always be trying to break even. I learned how to target the customers who were most in need of high quality, low-cost services. I finally had the home business that set me free from a high stress occupation. |
Over the years, my focus went from doing commercial art work to writing about it. When home computers became capable of desktop publishing, I wrote about the emerging technology in national computer magazines. I also concentrated on creating clip art, fonts and templates for desktop publishing software. I favored the low-end hardware, ever so budget-conscious. |
Then an amazing thing happened. The computer hardware industry quickly expanded technology while greatly lowering prices. Software became easier to use yet offered ever more professional output. Now I could produce the quality I could never before afford. |
So, Lamb Art & Design became Lamb Publishing. Finally I had the equipment needed to create books, newsletters, manuals and how-to guides. My first line of guides are in the works using all I have learned and gleaned from other sources. My hope is to have a web site with many practical solutions for those who want to work at home but don't have a lot of money. Piggy Bank Business guides will show you how to do it for yourself and to finally become independent. --Susan Lamb |
